Rose Helps Leads Charge Against Anti-Semitism Around the World
Congressman’s measure to combat anti-Semitism passes House of Representatives
With instances of anti-Semitism on the rise globally, Congressman Max Rose helped lead an effort to coordinate U.S. strategy against anti-Semitism overseas.
“As anti-Semitic attacks continue to rise, I’ve felt the fear in our Jewish communities here on Staten Island and in South Brooklyn—but this isn’t unique, Jews around the world are feeling those same renewed fears,” Rose said. “As a Jewish combat veteran, I’ll always stand up to fight hate, whether it’s here at home or abroad.”
“In a time of rising anti-Semitism in many countries, the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Act is a major legislative priority for ADL,” said Evan Bernstein, the New York / New Jersey Regional Director at the Anti-Defamation League. “We are grateful to those Members of Congress who co-sponsored this bill for raising their voices on behalf of protecting vulnerable Jewish communities abroad.”
The Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Act, which Rose co-sponsored, would elevate the State Department’s special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism to the level of Ambassador. The measure passed the House of Representatives today and now goes before the U.S. Senate.
